Performances

theOur Performance Philosophy

Our performances are both a showcase of annual progress and an opportunity for creative thinking, risk-taking, and choreographic innovation. Our studio reproduces ballet classics, sometimes true to traditional staging and sometimes with a unique spin, making them all our own. Our faculty has choreographed original ballets, staged innovative jazz, tap, contemporary and modern dance works, and produced thematic performances that respond to the changing world. Often, we invite input and ideas from our students, giving them unique ownership of their performances.

Our repertoire includes:

Sleeping Beauty (2025)

Dance Bochette performers have tackled this classic, set to Tchaikovsky’s beloved score, numerous times over the years, with each cast bringing its unique energy and personality to the stage.

Coppelia (2023)

The 17th-century ballet Coppelia features a beautiful score and uplifting dancing—and a complicated, lengthy story. Dance Bochette’s 2023 production reinvented this classic with a hybrid of oral storytelling, mime, and dancing. Students helped craft the opening sequence, putting movement to words and re-enlivening the old tale in a way that resonated with contemporary audiences.

VIBE! (2021)

This suite of dances, choreographed to familiar anthems from the 1960s and 1970s, celebrated the community’s re-emergence after COVID-19. Performed outdoors, VIBE! was all about joy, reconnection, and the strength of the human spirit.

Dreams (2019)

This thematic suite spanned the studio population.Faculty invited each class level to define what “DREAMS” meant to them. Teachers then created choreography reflective of their responses, which ranged from magical creatures to nightmares to aspirations.

Alice’s Adventures (2016)

This performance marked Dance Bochette’s foray into creating story-length ballets tailored to our student body. Whimsical and surreal, “Alice’s Adventures” stretched students and teachers alike to push beyond the ordinary and open new possibilities for how we conceive and create year-end performances.

Community Performances

Participation in annual events, such as Fort Myers’ ArtFest, reinforces Dance Bochette’s longstanding community ties and gives our students additional performance opportunities.

Holiday Shows

These informal showings are a mid-year checkpoint on students’ progress—and our studio’s way of infusing holiday cheer.
